Cleaning Tips for Managing Pet Hair

Are you a dog person or a cat person? Maybe both? Well regardless, dogs and cats can leave you home filled with pet hair. What are some cleaning tips you can use to help manage pet hair?

Pets are cute, lovable, and loyal creatures, but regardless of the kind of pet you have, they can leave a big mess. Especially when it comes to pet hair. Whether you have allergies, or just can’t stand the sight of excessive pet hair, pet hair can be a pain. How do you get rid of it, or manage it? I have found a list of things you can start doing today that will reduce the amount of pet hair your pet sheds.

Groom Your Pet Regularly

This is the easiest and most efficient way of reducing the amount of pet hair in your home. Use brushes and combs designed for your pets coat. Brushing your pet everyday will trap the loose hairs into the brush and comb, keep them off of your floors.

Try Bathing Too.

Bathing, along with brushing and combing, will reduce the amount of pet hair in the air and on your floors. If you decide to brush and bathe your pet in the same day, make sure you brush and comb your pet first, then bathe your pet. This will remove any mats or tangles that may be in your pets hair and trap any excess hair.

Vacuum Daily

The best way to keep pet hair off of your floors is to vacuum every day. Especially if you live with someone with allergies, vacuuming is very effective in reducing those allergies.

Clean Bedding

Pet hair sticks to EVERYTHING, especially blankets, quilts, pillows, and sheets. Making sure your bedding is cleaned once a week will eliminate the amount of pet hair in your bed. Plus, it always feels good to have clean bedding.

Sweep and Mop Flooring

Just like vacuuming, this will eliminate any excess hair of your hardwood floors.

Dusting

Depending on the size of your pet, you may find pet hair everywhere on your walls, shelves, etc. Make sure you dust frequently to reduce the amount of pet hair on your walls.

Keep Pet Hair Removal Tools Close

Lint brushes, duct tape, and more. Keep these pet removal tools close to remove any hair that does attach to your clothes or any parts of your home.

Give Pets Designated Sleeping Areas

This will eliminate the amount of pet hair that is found in your bed and on your furniture. Try to discourage pets from being anywhere where you don’t want pet hair to be. If you’re not able to keep your pets off, try putting a blanket or cover on your furniture to protect your furniture from pet hair.

Put Clean Clothes Away

If you’re anything like me, folding and putting clean clothes away is so hard. The best way to eliminate pet hair from clothes is to put clothes away as soon as they come out of the dryer.

Enjoy your reduced pet hair free home!
