Taking a bath in a dirty tub, doesn’t make you feel as clean as you would like. Let’s get that bathtub cleaned!
We’ve talked about cleaning showers, and we’ve talked about cleaning bathrooms. Let’s focus on that bathtub. For my family, using the bathtub is a daily necessity. Our baby is in the stage of making a mess with just about everything. He also loves the bath. When I’m bathing him, I want to make sure he is actually being cleaned. That all starts with having a clean place to bathe him. Here is a step by step list of how to clean your bathtub, and some tips/tricks to help make it easier.
How To Clean Your Bathtub
- Remove Everything From The Tub- This includes bath toys, washcloths, loofas, soap, shampoo and conditioner bottles, razors, everything. I would also suggest taking the shower curtain off. This will help you ensure that the entire tub will get cleaned (plus you don’t have to constantly move the shower curtain around. Once everything has been cleaned off of the tub, this could be a good time to wipe down/clean any bottles or toys that are dirty and slimy.
- Clean Tiles And Walls- Just like with most cleaning, start at the top and work your way down. Make sure all of the tiles and walls surrounding your tub are clean. When doing this, use a tile clean and a grout brush. If you don’t have a grout brush, a scrub brush works just as well. After scrubbing rinse down with water.
- Clean Out Your Drain- Drains collect so much hair, dirt, and grime. It takes so little for them to get clogged. One tip/trick for clogged drains is to pour a half-cup of baking soda down the drain. Follow it with a half-cup of vinegar. Let that sit for a few minutes then run the hot water for a few minutes.
- Clean The Interior- Use an All-Purpose Cleaner or a Tub Cleaner to clean the inside of the tub. Another tip/trick is to use baking soda as a tub cleaner. It works great! Let the cleaner sit for a few minutes. Afterwards, scrub your tub down then rinse with warm/ hot water.
Tips/Tricks
- Using a toothbrush to get into the tile grout and in the corners of the walls and tub
- Every time you take a bath, wipe down the tub and walls with a towel to get rid of extra water
- Dish soap works great to get rid of soap scum
Enjoy your clean tub!
