Cleaning Tips For Your Bedroom

Having a clean bedroom comes with so many benefits, including sleeping better. Here are some cleaning tips to keep your bedroom clean.

In our home, the bedroom is usually the messiest. Or gets cluttered the fastest. This is because of clothes not being put away, dishes, and garbage cluttering and taking up space. I have come up with a list to help combat the messy and cluttered bedroom.

  1. Remove any garbage- This is a simple but effective step to start off the cleaning bedroom process. Throw out any clothing tags, snack wrappers, unneeded papers, tissues, etc. After throwing the garbage away, don’t forget to empty the waste basket.
  2. Pick up dirty clothes- Clothes, clean or dirty, can be the biggest reason why your bedroom is dirty and cluttered. Start by putting all dirty clothes in a hamper or basket.
  3. Fold/hang up clean clothes- Since your mind is focused on laundry, take all of the clean clothes and either fold them or hang them up. Make sure they are put away after folding them or hanging them up.
  4. Remove blankets and sheets- Your bed is one of the dirtiest things in your home. There are so many allergens and dust and dirt particles trapped in your bed sheets and mattress. Sheets, blankets, comforters, pillow cases, etc. need to be washed on a regular basis. Whether that is once a week, once every two weeks, or once a month. Find a system that works best for you and your family to keep the bed clean.
  5. Clear and clean surfaces- That means the nightstands, dressers, desks, cabinets, etc. Dust and clean the surfaces. While cleaning, organize anything that is needing to stay on those surfaces.
  6. Dust curtains and lights- Dust builds up everywhere. Like we talked about last week, for allergy purposes it’s best to dust on a regular basis. Dusting removes particles and allergens, so this will help improve your sleep as well.
  7. Wipe down mirrors, walls, and windows– Ensure everything is cleaned and looking nice. This is something small, but definitely noticeable when walking into a room.
  8. Sweep/vacuum- A clean, spotless room is not possible without sweeping or vacuuming.
  9. Make your bed- Not only is it nice to go to sleep in a bed that is clean and made, but it’s nice to walk into your room and have it look clean.
